Slim Hawkins

The Man. The Hawk. The Myth. The Legend.

Slim Hawkins was born January 1, 1953, the day Hank Williams died. He recorded a string of genre-bending records spanning traditional country, gospel, outlaw tunes and cosmic honky tonk in the 70s and 80s. In 1984, a fire broke out during a Slim concert in Amarillo. His body was never found. Some people think he’s still out there, flying fierce, flying kind.

The Discography: Recovered & Restored

Originally recorded in 1971, Spilt Milk is the long-lost outlaw country masterpiece from Slim Hawkins & The Fine Feathered Friends. Uncovered, restored, and officially released for the first time.

A raw bootleg of Slim’s 1976 Independence Day set at Austin’s Armadillo World Headquarters, capturing his unfiltered take on American politics and the state of the union. 4-song live EP.

Recorded during self-imposed isolation following a bitter divorce, these stark, acoustic tracks were cut in an abandoned Mojave Desert cabin before later overdubs at LA’s Sunset Sound.
